You know how when you live in a city, you never really do any of the touristy activities? It’s such a shame, but it’s the truth! When I lived in Texas, I hated the thought of going to the Riverwalk. It just seemed so boring- it was always there. When we were visiting this last week, we headed to the Riverwalk and had so much FUN! We had great authentic Mexican food at Casa Rio and then walked around looking at the lights and boats. Not only is it a great place to entertain a toddler (my nephew was so fun to watch taking the lights, ducks, and boats all in) but it is also a great place for an evening stroll for the whole family!
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! This last week Chase and I went to Texas to be with my family for the holiday. We did a lot of eating and fishing! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal (although Chase was laid up with food poisoning all day Thursday so that was a huge bummer) and we also had fresh shrimp that some of our group caught! We saw sea turtles, jelly fish, and lots of dolphins. We caught black drum, snappers, sheep’s head, catfish and rockfish. My nephew, AJ, loved “feeding the Bishes” (aka feeding the fish). He also got a new game (Break the Ice) so we played that quite a few times! It was a fun trip.

The husband completely planned our anniversary weekend getaway, and let me just say- I was super impressed! The hotel we stayed at, The Nines was beautiful. It was hip, contemporary and comfortable. In other words, perfect!
The hotel is located inside the Meier and Frank building next to Pioneer Square downtown, which means it is close to some amazing shopping and many restaurant options. The hotel even has two restaurant options on the 8th and 15th floors, which both are great (restaurant reviews will be on Trois Chic this Friday!)
Not only did I wake up feeling like I was on a cloud, but I also fell in love with the decorations. Modern mixed with classic has always been a goal of mine for our house, so naturally I loved Louis XVI chairs paired with a modern chandelier, and the marble in the bathroom mixed with a stainless steel sink and sleek fixtures.
I would highly suggest staying at The Nines- if not for the comfort, then for the impeccable customer service or the design inspiration!
