Crushing on Antique Rugs

Vintage rugs are some of my favorite home accessories at the moment.  I have mainly been eyeing them for our kitchen but also have been loving the antique touch in an entryway. I think a vintage rug is the perfect way to warm up a modern home;  It gives some extra texture and color to the sleek and usually monochromatic contemporary style.  I’m all about adding a little boho touch in my clothing so why not give it a shot for the home?

For months, I have been searching online for some reasonably priced antique rugs but they are very expensive for the real deal!  In my searching, I found that Rugs USA had the best selection of vintage style rugs.  Over the weekend I had to take advantage of their Black Friday sale so I placed an order!  I am so excited to receive the rugs and I feel that they will add the perfect amount of color and warmth to our cool, gray tile flooring. Vintage rug, modern vintage decorVintage rug, modern vintage decorVintage rug, modern vintage decorVintage rug, modern vintage decor

Parade of Homes Interior Design Inspiration

Last week us girls’ at Trois Chic talked about our favorite things we saw at the Boise Parade of Homes.  There were so many great homes and I feel like I owe a post here, too, to show all of the fun things I was inspired by!  Here are a few:

1. Abstract Art

I love the artwork shown below from Echelon Furniture.  The mix of blues, greens, and golds is so chic!  And the thin gold frame makes the artwork so much more luxurious than just a hanging canvas.  parade of homes-5

2.  Geometric Lamp

This metal lamp is so fun and unexpected!  I love the copper color, too.  It is also from Echelon Furniture in Boise, my all time favorite furniture store.parade of homes-4

3. Mix of Textures in a Powder Bathroom

Honestly, I’m not usually a fan of the capiz shell lights usually- but here it works.  Paired with the dark accents, it looks so luxurious!

4. Nautical Yet Modern

The mix of the basketweave placemats with navy and yellow printed dishes feels modern but the table isn’t all themed- the rustic looking centerpiece grounds the coastal feel.

This nautical living room isn’t very themed, which I love.  The nautical accents are limited to the glass floats on the coffee table and the shark in the bookcase but are just enough to make the room feel coastal.  Not everything needs to “match” in a room to make it themed!

5. Travel Inspired Bedroom

What a fun take on a travel theme!  The airplanes and the wall map are so fun for a teen’s room.  The trunk is a fun bed side table, as well, and I love the pop of color in the geometric printed pillows.

6. A Room Fit for Princesses

How sweet is this little girls’ room?  The gold accents with the pink is so adorable.  And the branch wall hanging below is such a great DIY idea.  parade of homes-6parade of homes-7

Nest Tour: A Texan Treehouse

This is the coolest house, by far.  And by house, I actually mean “tree house” which is why the cool factor is so high.  I found the tour on Apartment Therapy and had to share- the home is owned by Don and Judy, who state their style as “modern and vintage”, which it is just that.  And you know how I’m a sucker for a cute dog in a home tour- they have a sweet yellow lab who reminds me of ol’ Buddy, my childhood pup!  They also shared some wonderful advice:

“Take your time with furnishings and finishing your home. By taking our time, we’ve been able to find things that are unique or sentimental.  We still have many bare walls and empty spaces because we want to love what we fill and not just like it. The other advice I would give is that less is more. By keeping things simple in our house, we have more room for play and for creativity.” -Don and Judy via Apartment Therapy
