Kitchenaid Refresh

January 29, 2020

Besides our coffee maker, our Kitchenaid mixer is hands down the most used kitchen appliance we own. For Christmas, Chase got me the commercial grade food processor attachment (which I absolutely LOVE) and so now the appliance gets used even more! Originally, I stored my Kitchenaid mixer in our pantry since I try to leave the counter as clear as possible, but finally, grabbing the appliance off the floor just got to be too big of a hassle for an everyday occurance (I know, first world problems- but this pregnant belly is making grabbing things off the floor a little tricky!) My mixer was the Green Apple color, which has been a favorite color of mine for a long time. But in this new kitchen, it just seemed too loud for an all-the-time-on-the-counter appliance. So, I turned to Google (of course) to see how easy it was to spray paint. It’s really easy, I found out! So if you want to change up your own mixer, keep reading for how Chase painted my mixer.

How to Paint a Kitchenaid:

1. Take every removable piece off (yes, even the silver band with the branding and speeds is removable!)

2. Clean all surfaces of the mixer really well with Clorox wipes (or any cleaner will do)

3. Lightly sand the whole mixer where paint will go.

4. Tape off any last bits that you don’t want painted

5. In a well ventilated area, lightly coat the mixer with appliance epoxy spray paint. Make sure to do several very light coats- it will look much better in the end! Also, remember to get all the different angles of the mixer with a coat.

6. Once the layers are dry, screw all the pieces back on (and remove all the tape).

7. Put your mixer on the counter and bake yourself a treat! Favorite recipes right now are No Knead Bread (use that dough hook with your newly painted mixer!) or anything from Joanna Gaines!
