I haven’t posted in a while because, well, life. It’s been throwing a few curve balls our way and some have hit pretty hard. Despite writing on the blog and feeling like I share mostly anything on my little corner of the internet, I’ve been internalizing happenings as of late and right now I’m giving myself permission to do so. I’ll share when the time is right, so don’t be worried that we’re going to drop off the face of the Earth or anything extreme. We’re just living life, one step at a time!
Onto a happier note, I wanted to post this project because it’s bringing a smile to my face to see how far our little master bath has come. Last December, I posted inspiration for my dream bathroom if we had an unlimited budget here which got us really planning our project. We got some quotes on our ideas and realized that it would be closer to $30k for the original vision. Yikes! This Spring, we started our project and honestly, I feel like I came pretty close to my dream inspiration, even with cutting down the budget by over a half!
So here’s what we changed in our master bath:
-New paint on the walls
-New glass in the shower stall
-New light fixtures
-New Round Mirrors to replace the builder grade wall mirrors
-New faucets
-New shelf, accessories (see details under photos below)
-New Vintage Styled Rug
-Painted Cabinets
-New cabinet hardware
Here’s how we saved:
-Kept our one piece shower and tub unit and just replaced the glass (this simple decision saved us around $20k!)
The new glass in the shower stall gave a huge refresh to the main pain point in our room. Add in new paint, fixtures and accessories and BAM. You’ve got a great new bathroom! I’m amazed at how zen it feels now. I absolutely love the results! Oh, and adding a 3×5 rug into the bathroom in place of small bath mats? Genius. I’m loving the rug- it’s not super bulky and I can move it out of the way if needed (Lucy’s baths sometimes get a little splashy!) I feel like the vintage look pulls everything together. Another little detail I’m loving is the mixed metals. I think mixing silver and gold looks so cool!
