At the beginning of this year, back when I was still pregnant, a really beautiful young mom came into Anthropologie with her four year old daughter. We got to visiting and I found out she was a photographer just starting up her business. She asked if I would be interested in modeling for her since she didn’t have any maternity photos in her portfolio. I figured it was worth a shot since I hadn’t gotten pictures done and she seemed nice enough!
During our shoot, I got to know Cassie a little better and she was just the sweetest! She told me about how her and her husband had adopted their little girl and she just beamed when she was telling me about her little family. And after seeing some of her shots I could tell she was extremely talented- I just knew her business was about to take off!
A few weeks ago I found out Cassie had passed away from a stress induced cardiomyopathy. I had only met her a few times but I feel so much for her family. I can’t imagine what they are going through. Chase’s experience with his tumor has taught me that life is short and we have to love to our fullest everyday- Cassie’s passing was another reminder of that for me.
There is a website set up where support can be shown to Cassie’s husband and daughter- the link is here.
I will always cherish the pictures Cassie took for me. Even though I didn’t know her extremely well, I will remember her when I look at them.
Life really is short- we have had many reminders of that in our life lately. Hug your loved ones today, as tomorrow may not be.
