Michelle Smith is a lawyer turned interior designer and owns Studio MRS in New York City. Her nest is a 1,500 square foot Union Square apartment that is simply lovely. She masterfully mixes antique styles with sleek lines. A few tips I learned from Smith:
1. There is always room for things you love.
2. Create vignettes, instead of decorating all over, to tackle the clutter.
3. Instead of covering a bed with a down comforter, choose a sleek coverlet and fold the down comforter at the base- the look will be chicer and less messy.
4. Balance a wood table with fancy chairs.
5. Don’t let a certain style take over your place- just let what you love create a style of it’s own!
