Wow. The last three months has gone by in a blink of an eye to say the least! I know for some isolation has seemed to last forever but I have to say this time has flown by. Tomorrow Chase starts working back in the office (he’s been working from home since the week before Ellie was born), and I will be starting back to work but am fortunate enough that I can do it from home. I thought I’d write a Top 5 post to share what’s been some of my favorite things – besides watching Ellie hit many milestones – this last little while.
1. Gardening
Chase built two raised beds for vegetable gardening which has been so fun to watch grow! I also planted some containers on our patio which have been producing so many flowers to cut and bring inside. Lucy is a big help with harvesting!
2. Plant Based Eating
This topic deserves a whole post to itself so I’ll get to that soon but for now, I’ll just say originally this came about as we were experiencing the shortages and exorbitant prices for meat, and as I’ve had to cut dairy out for breastfeeding. I researched recipes to feed the family without animal products and found a whole world opened through plant based eating. I’ve learned a lot about the health benefits to limiting animal products, and I love that eating plant based means I get to eat a lot more on my plate each meal! I understand not everyone wanting to cut it out completely, but cutting back is a great place to start which is way easier to do than I expected. We now only eat meat once or twice a week and eggs a little more often then that. What this way of eating has done for our family is switched our food focus to eat more fruits and veggies. Yay for that!
3. Patio Living
We’ve been spending most of our days hanging on the patio- it’s so relaxing and Lucy always finds something to do out back.
4. Minimalist Spring/Summer Style
It wouldn’t be a top 5 post if I didn’t mention style in some way! I’ve been enjoying Eileen Fisher’s style of dressing- more minimally, less patterns and oversized looks. I listened to a Goop podcast that featured Eileen and it was very interesting to learn a bit more of her sustainable brand. Listen here!
5: Park Days
We have been going on at least one walk every day (for the most part). Our neighborhood has a few different parks so they make for great outings!
